Information for Leaders and Teachers

Welcome to Encompass Training at Great Potheridge House

Should you be interested in bringing a group to Great Potheridge, you are more than welcome to pay us a visit to have a look around to see what we do here.

The location of Great Potheridge itself is in a very rural and beautiful area. The nearest village of Merton is two miles away which has a small shop and post office. The little town of Great Torrington is approximately a ten minute drive away. This town has various shops and facilities which include a post office, pharmacy, doctors' and dental surgeries.

Barnstaple is the nearest large town, which is approximately half an hour away by car, and this is also where the nearest train station and main hospital are located.

If you decide to come to our centre, you will be the only group here so you will have all of our attention, all of the time. We have designated rooms and toilet/shower facilities for leaders and each room has its own tea and coffee making facilities.

Claire Waghorn, the Centre Manager, will be your main point of contact while you are here and it is her job to ensure your group has everything required. Claire, along with all of our other staff, is DBS cleared and very experienced in the field of outdoor education.

Outdoor Education

“Instructors were excellent, very safety conscious and had great relationships with the children and staff. They knew just where to stop when joking with children and didn’t push staff beyond their limits. Good quality food. Always a choice of fruit for lunch. Catered for different diets, dairy free and no pork.”Class Teacher, Wiltshire
